I did it!
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. This is an international event held every November. If you want to participate, you sign up to write a novel of 50,000 words during the 30 days of November. In past years I wasn’t ready, but this year, I knew that I was up to the challenge.
In October, I signed up to participate. I decided to write a memoir titled, “Stuffy’s Story – 3 Mums, 6 Years.” Part of October was spent researching and checking facts as well as writing a draft list of chapter headings.
On the 1st November, I started writing and on the 26th November I reached my goal of 50,000 words. I have not finished my memoir and estimate that December will be spent writing the next 30,000 words, but I am well on the way to completing a memoir.
I loved the process of writing and reliving parts of my life. I knew I had this story in me waiting to come out and NaNoWriMo proved to be the catalyst I needed. I expect that “Stuffy’s Story – 3 Mums, 6 Years,” will be on bookshelves in 2016. I sure hope so. I will share chapter one on my next blog.
So my question to all of you – Do you have a book that you want to write? If you answer is, “YES”, then start planning it out and then sign up for NoNoWriMo in 2015.
Good luck with your writing and remember, sitting down at your computer and typing produces the best luck and that much awaited book.
